Hearing on Hawaii County resolution opposing HB 1226
Next hearing is April 22nd at 10:00 am in Kona!
There will be one more hearing on Hawai'i County council Resolution 81-09, opposing HB 1226 - April 22nd at 10:00 am in Kona at the Sheraton Keauhou Bay.
Citizens can testify via video link from Hilo or Waimea from 10 am - 2 pm. In Waimea the location is Councilman Hoffmann's office next to the feed store, across the street from the police station.
For more info and background on the resolution and HB 1226 see this section of the Hawai'i SEED web site.
The resolution failed to pass on Wednesday April 8th in Hilo because of a procedural error and a Chair not terribly supportive.
We will need 100-plus people testifying around the island for this
new Council to see that we are serious. Council members Yoshimoto,
Onishi and Enriques voted against the resolution in Hilo and need to
hear from constituents to help educate them on both the immediate and
long-term issues of allowing preemption of local government by federal
government to become a precedent.
Please come, in person, and give your testimony to the County Council.
You do not need to say much more than "please vote to pass resolution No. 81-09," and, we need you at the County Council meeting.
Without your support, Hawai'i County's agricultural lands may soon become experimental fields for GE crops.
