Get practical hands on bee management training with experienced beekeeper Ron Hanson at his apiary in Pahoa starting Saturday, September 12, from 1-4pm, and continuing for the next three consecutive Saturdays in September and October.

Effective bee management can have major impacts on the health of your honeybee colony.

The training course consists of four 3-Hour workshops and includes:
  • Honey bees life history and cycle
  • Behavior of different breeds
  • Retrieving and starting bees
  • Building equipment & hive set up
  • Hive inspection and techniques
  • Management & manipulation
  • Harvesting honey & other hive products
  • Varroa mites in Hawai'i & other enemies
  • Big Island Beekeepers Association

Included with the training is a comprehensive manual, complete with detailed photos and references.  Hive equipment and tools are also available for a separate fee.
