Distribution of Parmarion martensi and its potential as a vector for human Angiostrongyliasis

First printed in Pacific Science, October 2007. Study to determine geographical distribution of this slug on Hawai'i Island, gain information about pest status, feeding preferences and foraging behavior, and compare levels of infection of the nematode A. Cantonensis in this slug and the Cuban slug collected from the same areas. We thank Dr. Robert Hollingsworth, plant pest researcher with USDA on Hawai'i Island and contributer to this paper, for information he has provided to our communities.
